For over 45 years, Jay Grooters, the Urban Rancher, has been designing and creating stained glass windows.

Living in the mountains of Colorado, he has specialized in flowers, animals, birds, and landscapes. However, in the past several years, there has been a transition into liturgical stained glass. During 2006 - 2008, the three windows pictures above have been completed and installed. In the winter of 2007 - 2008, a 6'x6' window was completed for the Longmont United Methodist Church in Longmont, Colorado as a memorial for his father, and a 5'x5' octagonal window for the Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church in Estes Park. During the period of February 2009 and April 2009, the other 22 windows for Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church were completed.

He does take orders for custom work, and also has completed works for sale in his gallery and studio at his home and at the Alpenglow Gallery in Estes Park.

He is developing a series of free-form animals and birds, inclusing bighorn rams, elk, eagles and owls, and is in the process of creating a 3 dimensional flying eagle.
